Abstract
English abstract
The Rolex Learning Center, an iconic building designed by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryūe Nishizawa of the Japanese architectural firm Sanaa, was inaugurated in Lausanne in 2010. A visually disruptive element is thus inserted into the campus of the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) with the ambition to innovate (not only architecturally) the offer of the EPFL to its community.
Starting from a description of the context in which the Rolex has been integrated, the article aims to draw a first balance, ten years after its opening, on the initial goal of having a maison des étudiants as learning center.
